Juno, thank you for coming into our lives as a member of our family.
Although the time you spent with us was short, you created a lot of memories for us to cherish.
You taught us to be better.
Hope you are in a better place now peacefully.
You have left a void which can never be filled.
You will be always missed
With love!

Celebrating the life of Alvin
Alvin was the first pet we ever had. When we were in the US, my wife and I had the opportunity to interact with our friend’s dog which was a Labrador Retriever. He was very friendly with us. After we moved back to India, we decided to get a pet dog that can suit the beginners like us. As our two children were very young at that time (one was 9-year-old and the other was 2 years old) and with a bit of interaction we had with our friend’s dog in the US, we thought of getting a Lab or a Golden Retriever.
Our relative who also happens to be a Vet told us about a family who wanted to give their four-month-old Lab for adoption as they did not have time to raise the pet. My wife and I took our kids to their house. We instantly liked the puppy and were ready to bring him to our home. The first owners named the puppy Hitler which we did not like at all. I asked my boys to come up with a name that will suit the mild demeanor of this dog breed. My kids came up with the name Alvin (as they just watched the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks). We liked the name. Our journey with Alvin started since then.
During the puppy days, Alvin was a bit naughty and chewed quite a few furniture at our house. We gave him a lot of toys to chew on and slowly it stopped chewing things at home. I used to take him to Marina beach occasionally and made him to run along with me at the beach. He thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids used to throw tennis balls and other toys and were asking him to bring them back. He used to bring the things back quickly but instead of giving them back to the kids, he was playing with those things. It was fun to watch his mischiefs. We took him occasionally to a pet friendly restaurant called The Farm in OCR where he got an opportunity to swim in a small lake.
As our kids started getting older, their interaction with Alvin started reducing but Alvin was always cheerful. He was always passionate to cheer us when we got back home from work (or school in the case of kids) and used to get his favorite treats. Apart from us, I need to do a special mention of our helpers at home who took care of him very well, be it bathing, grooming or preparing his food. We noticed that Alvin had some allergy to regular dog food and as per doctor’s recommendation, we changed his diet to rice, chicken and fish and a bit of curd. He liked this food more.
Our family moved to Akkarai in ECR a few years ago. Our in laws did not have plans to move to Akkarai from the city. But they were attached to Alvin more than us. So, we left Alvin to stay with them. He enjoyed their company very well too. After moving to Akkarai, we got two more dogs. After some time, our in laws moved with Alvin to our place in Akkarai. As Alvin was much older by that time, he did not interact with our other two dogs that much.
Even in the last days of his life, he was still cheerful though his physical movements were limited. Even just a day before he died, he enjoyed the snacks we gave him. The great thing about Alvin was that he never had any major health issues apart from a few skin allergies. Though we miss him dearly, we do not want to mourn him instead celebrate his life and the impact he created on us.
